As part Aero’s continuing process of upgrading our products wherever possible, our WW2 RAF Sheepskin jackets are the latest to undergo a totally overhaul.
We have started the process by introducing this all new model, the Late WW2 Multi Panel jacket, a recreation of the later Irvin jacket used when raw material shortages were at their worst. What started as a a way to save materials ended with, in our opinion, by far the most stylish of all three versions of Leslie Irvin’s legendary jacket.
We’ve gone back to scratch with this new jacket, new patterns have been cut from an original example in our archives resulting in a much improved fit and more authentic sleeve profile. A completely new sheepskin has been sourced in The UK and tanned to perfectly match the original WW2 material specifications and these “new” RAF jackets will be fitted with very authentic deadstock zippers dating from the 1950s or 60s while stocks last.
The new sheepskin will be available in Russet, as in the photos, and in a darker Seal brown and we can also offer the option of a standard matched collar, again as in the main picture, or a contrast collar, something that was typical of the later originals
Panel configuration of the Multi Panel jackets may vary slightly from one jacket to the next but the overall feel of a genuine RAF jacket from the mid 1940s will be faithfully replicated.
During the following months we will be giving both our earlier RAF jackets a similar makeover, once again using original patterns from the 1930s along with our new sheepskin
